Working directly with Children, Young People and Communiites
HCNF also has some direct implementation programmes where we work directly to realise some of our objectives while also gaining first hand experiences and perspectives from the stake holders themselves.
Supporting Grassroots Organisations
We seek out or are approached by organisations working at the grassroots, directly with children and communities. These organisations have their finger on the pulse of the particular communities they work with, have their trust and cooperation, and also have good equations with local governance structures, making it easier for HCNF priorities to succeed and sustain.
Bringing in Experts
While grassroots organisations are completely immersed in day to day work, it helps them to step back from time to time and enter into discussions and receive inputs for other experts in the field, be they experienced people from other similar organisations, from academia, or from other disciplines that can enrich the ongoing work. HCNF seeks to identify such individuals and involve them in the work of partner organisations.
Training and Capacity Building
All organisations have on going training needs that are not always easy to meet internally. HCNF enables them to seek out organisations or individuals with the required skills and experience to build internal capacities to face changing needs.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation of Projects
A lot of grassroots level work, while being very relevant and effective, suffers from a shortage of time and capacity to formally monitor and evaluate impact. We provide support for this important function through outside agencies or individuals contracted by HCNF. Documentation of work in another area where we provide support.
Research
Research from India on early childhood, health, nutrition elementary education, language, adolescence, and many other crucial areas is very sparse on the ground. Financial support for this crucial area is also hard to come by, with most donors wanting quick and showcase worthy results. HCNF seeks to fund such research that has direct policy and implementation implications.
Social Campaigns
With a view to making issues of children and young people more visible and prioritized, HCNF supports social campaigns that seek to raise awareness, provide information, and affect policy.
